In early September we headed down to Newport to make our annual trip to watch Newport Polo. It's such a fun day! I love going in Sept because the late afternoon sun is just beautiful.
Between the two halves of the match, attendees can go out onto the field and replace divots. I also ventured in the area where the horses are kept, and caught up with the players while they were relaxing. I love the details of the match.
At the end of the match, all of the players from both teams come by on their horses slap the attendees hands as they make a circle around the edge of the field. I love the shadows created.

Wickford Art Gallery
Sunday was the opening reception for a Photo Exhibit at the Wickford Art Gallery. I submitted three images for consideration, and all three were selected. My red door shot was selected to be in the Top 10.
If you're down in the Wickford area, stop on by the gallery and check out the images. The images selected are great!

4th of July
We spent the 4th at a friend's house who lives right on the water. The sunset was the prettiest I had ever seen at her house. I wandered out into the bay to get closer to the sunset and get down in the water to get the ripples up close. I did not photoshop or manipulate these colors - they were just absolutely striking!
I'm sorry if the shots look very similar to one another, but I just couldn't decide which shot I liked best, so bear with me. If you have one shot that you like better than another, please let me know. I'm terrible at making decisions with images.

Father's Day in Maine
We headed up to see my family in Maine to celebrate father's day. My parents have a fabulous plot of land, and I'm always finding something new to shoot.

Sights of Providence
Last night I headed down to Providence with the Wickford Photo Group to do some shooting. I wandered around for about an hour and here's what I came up with. I was a little tired, so a little unmotivated (sad excuse i know).
If you're interested in joining the photo group, it's a fun bunch of people. We meet the second and fourth monday of the month. A lot of different topics are discussed at a lot of different skill levels - everyone's welcome. Friendly photo contests every month. For more info, go to http://www.wickfordart.org/photoguild.htm

Rockport, MA
This weekend, I headed out to Rockport, MA. I had never been out there before and was told that I would love it, and I did :) The weather wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but I got some amazing shots. The fog was very thick, preventing us from going on a whale watch, but that just gave us more time to get out and explore.
I'm just starting to play with rolling the zoom lens while shooting on slower shutter speeds. Below, you can see some of my experimental shots. They kind of make me motion sick, but I like them!
Prior to going I read "The Perfect Storm". It definitely helped me get perspective and some history of the area. The fishing world is an amazing culture.
Sadly, I think one of my compact flash cards died. Now to get the last remaining shots off the card. Ugh!
